Jordan’s Presentation: SESVIS 2019 – Jordan Knight
Jordan Knight is the Central Region Manager for Land Science, which is dedicated to providing advanced technologies to promote sustainable land development and eliminate potential indoor air quality health risks associated with vapor intrusion.
Jordan has over 5 years’ experience managing Brownfield and landfill redevelopment projects where vapor intrusion barriers and venting systems were implemented throughout the United States. She provides technical support to engineering and consulting firms within her 22-state territory in the design and installation of vapor mitigation systems. Her role also includes educating the environmental community on advancements in vapor intrusion barrier technology, implementation, and quality control.
Prior to joining Land Science, Jordan attended graduate school at Indiana University’s School of Public and Environmental Affairs. Jordan holds a Master of Public Affairs in Environmental Management and a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Management from Indiana University.
Abstract of Presentation: Title: Modern Approaches to Managing VI Risk: Three innovative technologies for Brownfield sites in 2019 and beyond
Summary: The need to better protect overlying structures from sub-slab contaminant vapor migration with innovative, affordable technologies continues to be at the forefront of vapor intrusion (VI) discussions across the nation. As VI guidance(s) continue to evolve and more is learned about the threat of the VI pathway, the number of impacted brownfield sites requiring VI mitigation continues to expand.
Recent advancements have been made to vapor intrusion barrier materials that will better address the VI inhalation pathway on a long-term scale against radon, methane, petroleum constituents, and chlorinated solvent impacts for brownfield redevelopments sites. Three new VI mitigation barrier systems have been developed, incorporating revolutionary materials into the barrier design to create unprecedented chemical resistance while remaining cost-competitive for new construction applications.
Successful applications of these advanced technologies have been implemented across the US, setting a new standard in vapor barrier performance for the modern age of vapor intrusion mitigation.
